ABSOLUTION, The Servant design

 The Servant (El Sirviente) es uno de los protagonistas de la serie Christos Gage’s ABSOLUTION, y cómo otros personajes de la serie, me fue encomendada su creación gráfica.


 Christos quería para The Servant una imagen de cruzado medieval del Siglo XXI, un súper héroe de perfil marcadamente religioso, con la cruz cómo emblema.

 Dibujé estos tres bocetos y el elegido fue… el primero. Me suele ocurrir, y siempre pienso: “¿Para qué demonios habré gastado tiempo y energías en hacer los demás?”. He, he, he…

 Christos wanted for The Servant a image of a medieval crusader of XXI Century, a super hero with a markedly religious profile, with the cross as their emblem.

Pandora, UnHoly and War Angel (Female Designs)

  La serie Lost Souls de Lady Death fue un gran cross-over de personajes de Avatar, para lo cual y dado el contexto fantástico-medieval de la obra hubo que rediseñar algunos de los trajes de las heroínas protagonistas, dicha labor recayó sobre un servidor.

  Lo que hoy os muestro es el cambio de look de Pandora, Penny (Un Holly) y War Angel.

  A ver quien se moja, mi favorito el de Pandora.

  The Lady Death's series LOST SOUL was a big cross-over of Avatar's characters, for this reason and for the fantastic-medieval decoration of the work, was necessary to redraw some of the suits of the heroines main characters, the responsibility was for me.

  What today shows you is the change of look of Pandora, Penny (A Holly) and War Angel.

ABSOLUTION, John Dusk's Design

Después de terminar NO HERO aún estoy sin serie nueva asignada ( y con esto respondo a los correos que me hacen esta pregunta), por lo que desde AVATAR PRESS se me ha encargado una avalancha de portadas para diferentes series
Una de ellas es ABSOLUTION. Esta es una historieta creada por el escritor Christos Gage, y cuyos personajes fueron diseñados por un servidor. Si lo teneis a bien, aquí os muestro el cómo creé a John Dusk, protagonista de la serie. Vamos allá!

After finishing NO HERO I am still without assigned new series (and with this I respond to the mail that ask me this question), for what I have been taken charge an batch of covers for different series from AVATAR PRESS.
One of them is ABSOLUTION. This is a comic created by the writer Christos Gage, and whose characters were designed by my. If your you want to know it, here I show you the how I created John Dusk, main character of the series. Let's go!



Christos fue muy claro con algunos elementos que deseaba para este súper- héroe, estos eran: el casco máscara, quería algo rígido y que le diese un aspecto amenazador, la coraza que cubriría parcialmente el toso, pantalones de estética militar y botas masivas.
Con esto, y con el mismo dibujo base, surgen las tres primeras ideas.

Christos was very clear with some elements that he wanted for this super-hero, these they were: the helmet mask, wanted something rigid and that gives him a lowering aspect, the armor that would cover partially the torso, pants of military aesthetics and massive boots.
With this, and with the same basic drawing the first three ideas arose.

Un poco cómo un puzzle de todos y con nuevas ideas de Gage, ya tenemos el aspecto general que tendrá nuestro personaje. Aún seguíamos discutiendo acerca de la conveniencia o no de incluir un logo identificativo para nuestro héroe…

Y bueno, realizo las vistas para clarificar todo el conjunto y facilitarle el trabajo a Roberto Viacava, a la sazón dibujante de la serie.

Más tarde vendrían más cambios, el nombre original THE TWILIGHT MAN (de ahí la “T” del pecho y cinturón), fue cambiado por el definitivo JOHN DUSK, luego se suprimió el logo. Además de esto en posteriores versiones lo podemos ver a John con ojos blancos (como Lady Death o Battman)y un casco quizás más anguloso.

Lady Death's Sword

Esta es una de esas cosas las cuales no se le da mucha cuerda y suele pasar inadvertida para la práctica totalidad de los lectores, pero hoy que tengo la noche bocazas, me apetece contaros que la espada que actualmente luce Lady Death fue diseñada por mí.
Lo mejor de todo ello es cuando ves algo que has creado tú retratado a posteriori por decenas de artistas, una gozada!

I know that to these things they are not given a lot of importance and usually pass inadvertent for the readers of comics, but tonight I’m remembering and I feel like tell you that the sword that at the moment Lady Death takes was designed by me.
The best thing of everything is it when you see something that you have created depicted later by dozens of artists, a enjoyed!

Bad Moon Rising (II)

Y este fue el resultado final.
Brian quería algo mucho más sucio y agresivo. Alargué y raí la chaqueta, cambié el sombrero (Brian Pulido me envió una foto con el tipo de sombrero exacto que quería), le solté la melena, añadí cadenas y mugre a mansalva.
Desde luego, el personaje tomó una imagen mucho más impactante, oscura y casi demoníaca, que era de lo que se trataba. Sí, mucho mejor.

Os dejo también algunos detalles del rostro y del mondadientes que usa Jack para argumentar sus decisiones.

And this was the final dessing.
Brian wanted something very much dirtier and more aggressive. I lengthened and I frayed the jacket, I changed the hat ( Brian Pulido sent me a picture with the hat type that he/she wanted), I loosed him the mane, I added chains and tons of dirt.
Certainly, the character took an image much more spectacular, dark and almost demoniac, this was the objective. Yes, better.

I also leave you some details of the face and of the toothpick that Jack uses to argue his decisions.

Bad Moon Rising

Hace algún tiempo, a la vez que los de Mischief Night, hice la creación del personaje Black Jack Morgan (o al menos así se llamaba en los textos que yo recibí…), para la serie Bad Moon Rising. Dicha serie, escrita por Brian Pulido y dibujada por Wellington Alves, fue publicada por Avatar Press allá por el 2006.
Como suele ocurrir nunca doy con la tecla a la primera, aquí os dejo los primeros bocetos que hice para el personaje, es decir: el Black Jack Morgan que nunca vereis, más tarde pondré el definitivo, ok?

Some time ago, at the same time that those of Mischief Night, I made the character's creation Black Jack Morgan (or was called this way in the texts that I received from Brian…), for the series Bad Moon Rising. Mischief Night (II)

Y… bueno, la otra cara de la moneda, el caso contrario:
En el primer dibujo, el primero de los diseños que hice para Jill, la aviesa protagonista femenina de Mischief Night.
Hubo que adelgazarla y rejuvenecerla, para que presentara el aspecto que veis en el segundo dibujo, que con pequeñas diferencias (el crucifijo del cuello se cambió por una calavera) fue como lució en el tebeo.
En esta ocasión sí que estoy plenamente de acuerdo con Brian, el diseño final sí que encajaba mucho mejor con el personaje.

Mischief Night

A las órdenes de Brian Pulido hice hace unos años, un libro titulado Mischief Night; para los que no lo conozcáis, se trataba de una historia de terror tenager, con personajes de estética goth, o gótica, como prefiráis. Lo que os muestro es la curiosa creación de Jack, protagonista masculino.

En el primer dibujo lo invento, doy mi visión. En el segundo, sutiles cambios para intentar complacer/ajustarme a lo pensado por el escritor, del editor… Paso tres, a tomar viento! Nuevo diseño, completamente diferente, ahora sí al gusto de “los que mandan”.

A mí me sigue gustando más el primero…

To the orders of Brian Pulido I drew some years ago, a titled book "Mischief Night"; for those that don't know it, it was a story of tenager terror, with characters of look Goth or Gothic. What I show you is the curious creation of Jack, masculine main character.
