ABSOLUTION, The Servant design

 The Servant (El Sirviente) es uno de los protagonistas de la serie Christos Gage’s ABSOLUTION, y cómo otros personajes de la serie, me fue encomendada su creación gráfica.


 Christos quería para The Servant una imagen de cruzado medieval del Siglo XXI, un súper héroe de perfil marcadamente religioso, con la cruz cómo emblema.

 Dibujé estos tres bocetos y el elegido fue… el primero. Me suele ocurrir, y siempre pienso: “¿Para qué demonios habré gastado tiempo y energías en hacer los demás?”. He, he, he…

 The Servant is one of the protagonists in the series Christos Gage's Absolution, and how other characters in the series, I was given his graphic creation.


 Christos wanted for The Servant a image of a medieval crusader of XXI Century, a super hero with a markedly religious profile, with the cross as their emblem.


 I drew three sketches and was elected ... the first. Usually this happens, and I always think:: " Why have I spent time and energy doing the other??". He, he, he ...

THE GOON

  Este es un THE GOON (El Bruto en España) que hice para mi amiguete Horacio.
  Quise conservar esa estética pelo “toon” del personaje creado por el maestro Eric Powell, eso sí pasándola por mi “filro” de puntitos y gifts.

  A Horacio, según me dijo le gustó, a ver que os parece a vosotros ;)

BLACK SUMMER nominated for the EXPOCOMIC'S AWARDS!!!!

BLACK SUMMER, la novela gráfica editada en España por Glénat Ediciones, originalmente creada para la norteamericana Avatar Press por la insigne pluma de Warren Ellis, ha tenido el honor de ser seleccionada cómo candidata a los premios EXPOCOMIC 2009 en el apartado de “Mejor Obra Internacional”.


Desde aquí mi enhorabuena a los amigos de GLÉNAT EDICIONES, al fin y al cabo los responsables de que esta obra obtenga el honor de la citada nominación, por supuesto a Avatar y a Warren, legítimos propietarios de la misma, y gratitud sin límites, por la ínfima parte que me toca, a los responsables del jurado que han hecho posible que esta agradable noticia acurriese. ;)

Pero de verdad, de verdad por quienes me alegro y quiero felicitar desde aquí y enviar un abrazo “king size” es por los amigos y compañeros que obtienen MERECIDÍSIMAMENTE nominaciones este año:
José Luis (Munuera, nominado a Mejor Dibujante y Mejor obra nacional por “El Juego de la Luna” ), Víctor (Santos, nóminado a Mejor Guionista por "Black Kaiser", y "La Sangre de las Valkirias"), a Diego y compañía del Fanzine "Andergraun" (nominados a Mejor Fanzine) y sobre todo a mis “hemanos” Rafa y Roger (Rafa Sandoval y Roger Bonet, nominados a Mejor Dibujante por "El Increíble Hercules: Invasión Sagrada" ). Señores ENHORABUENA, me descubro ante ustedes ;).

Chronicles of Wormwood #1 Cover

 Hoy os dejo una de las portadas que hice para la serie de Chronicles of Wormwood, la serie de Garth Ennis que esta, su segunda saga ilustra el español Oscar Jiménez.
 Desde que supe que el escritor de Belfast iba a trabajar para Avatar siempre quise ilustrar uno de sus guiones, no en vano, El Predicador (The Preacher) y The Punisher que él escribe son de mis cómic favoritos. Por uno u otros motivos aún me he quedo con las ganas, esta y otras ilustraciones son lo más cerca que he estado de trabajar con él… cachis!!

  Today I leave you one of the covers that I did for the series Chronicles of Wormwood, the series of Garth Ennis that in this second saga is illustrates the Spanish artist Oscar Jiménez.
  Since I knew that the writer of Belfast was going to work for Avatar always I wanted to illustrate one of his scripts, not uselessly, The Preacher and The Punisher that he writes are of my favorite cómic.For one or other motives still I am stay with the desires, this one and other illustrations are more nearby that I have been of working with him … :( !!

TOM NOIR IN PERSON!!! (Costume by Debon Doolittle)

Mi amigo Devon J. Doolittle me escribió para contarme que estaba preparando un disfraz de Tom Noir, el protagonista de Black Summer, agradable sorpresa, amigos, e increíble alegría cuando me remitió sus fotos de la obra terminada.

Lo que veis es el resultado de su laborioso trabajo por llevar a la realidad uno de mis diseños, que dicho sea de paso ya le ha valido algún premio en festivales y convenciones.

Una vez más, atónito me quedo cuando veo en carne y hueso uno de mis diseños y la misma sensación al sentir que algo que yo he creado ha sido tan importante para alguien cómo para gastar su tiempo y sus energías en recrearlo.

My friend Devon J. Doolittle wrote to tell me he was preparing a costume Tom Noir, the main character of Black Summer, pleasant surprise, friends, and incredible joy when he sent me his photos of the finished work.

 What you see is the result of hard work to bring to reality one of my designs, by the way which  already has earned any awards at festivals and conventions.

  Again, I'm amazed when I see "in live" one of my designs and the same feeling when I feel that something I created has been so important to someone how to spend their time and energies to recreate it.

  Hey! Ya estoy aquí de nuevo. Hoy, una de las últimas wraparound cover hechas para la serie de Christos Gage, ABSOLUTION. Esta es de esas portadas no muy usuales en un tebeo e súper-héroes, pero que más se disfruta al dibujar.

  Hey! I'm here again. Today, one of the last wraparound cover done for the Christos Gage' series, ABSOLUTION. This is one of these not very usual covers in a comic-book of super heroes, but they are those that more I enjoy drawing.

NO HERO, Dual Signed Hard Cover

  Ya está anunciada para el próximo 10 de enero la aparición del tomo integral y recopilatorio de NO HERO, hasta el momento mi última novela gráfica para Avatar Press, con guiones de Warren Ellis.
  Cómo sin duda sabréis algunos, en la editorial acostumbran a imprimir el mismo libro con varias portadas, la que hoy os muestro ilustrará la “Dual Signed Hard Cover”, una edición limitada firmada por Warren y por un servidor de ustedes.

  Ya me contáis que os parece.

  It's announced for the next January 10 the appearance in bookstores of the compilation volume of NO HERO, until the moment my last graphic novel  for Avatar Press, written by Warren Ellis.
  How undoubtedly you know, on the publishing house they are accustomed to print the same book with several covers, which today I show you will illustrate the 'Dual Signed Hard Cover ', a limited edition signed by Warren and me.
